What We Light

Uplighting, path lighting, and garden accents.

Columns and garage facade lit with architectural uplighting

Architectural Uplighting

Show off the stone, columns, and rooflines you paid for. Grazing and wall-wash fixtures at the base of the facade, in 2700K warm white, aimed on-site until the shadows fall right.

A walkway marked with low path lighting fixtures

Path & Step Lighting

Guide family and guests safely from the driveway to the front door. Low fixtures spaced roughly six to eight feet apart light every step without runway glare.

A garden and tree scene with warm landscape lighting accents

Garden & Landscape Accents

Turn trees, gardens, and water features into nighttime focal points. Moonlighting, a fixture mounted high in a mature tree and aimed down, casts soft, dappled light onto the garden below.

Also available: Security & Perimeter Lighting. Subtle, well-placed fixtures light entrances, driveways, and dark corners so your property is safer after dark without looking like a parking lot.

The Awesome Method

How our landscape lighting process works.

01

On-site design walk

Dave walks the property after dark with you to see exactly what the house and landscape need.

02

Custom lighting plan

A fixture-by-fixture plan (wattage, beam spread, and wire runs), priced before anything is installed.

03

Precision installation

Low-voltage wiring is buried and fixtures are aimed on-site, not from a spec sheet.

04

Seasonal walkthrough

We return to re-aim fixtures as trees grow and adjust timers for daylight-saving changes.

Service Questions

Landscape lighting services FAQ.

What is architectural uplighting? +
Architectural uplighting places fixtures at the base of your home and aims them up the facade to show off its shape, texture, and materials after dark. Grazing fixtures sit close to the wall and bring out the texture of stone, brick, and columns. Wall-wash fixtures sit farther back and spread even, soft light across flatter surfaces. The art is in the placement and aim: light the features worth seeing, keep glare out of windows and neighbors’ eyes, and leave some shadow for depth. That’s why every fixture is aimed on-site after dark, not from a drawing.
How far apart should path lights be? +
We typically space path lights roughly six to eight feet apart. That’s close enough to light every step with no dark gaps, but far enough apart to avoid the “airport runway” look of fixtures lined up in a straight row. Final spacing depends on the walkway’s width, how it curves, and the plants along it. We often stagger fixtures from side to side and tuck them into plantings so you see the light on the path, not the fixtures themselves. Steps usually get their own step lights so every riser is clearly visible.
What is moonlighting in landscape lighting? +
Moonlighting is a technique where a fixture is mounted high in a mature tree and aimed down. The light filters through the branches and leaves and casts soft, moving, dappled shadows on the lawn, patio, or garden below, like a full moon. It works best on large, mature trees and is often paired with uplighting on the trunk so the tree itself glows too. Moonlighting also gives gentle, natural-looking light over outdoor living areas without any fixtures at eye level.
What color temperature is best for landscape lighting? +
We use 2700K warm white. Color temperature is measured in Kelvin: lower numbers look warm and golden, higher numbers look cool and blue. 2700K matches the warm glow of traditional incandescent light, so stone, brick, wood, and plants look natural and your home looks welcoming. Cooler blue-white LEDs, common in big-box kits, tend to make homes look harsh and flat after dark. Using the same warm color throughout the property also keeps the whole design consistent.
Do you offer security lighting? +
Yes. Security and perimeter lighting uses well-placed fixtures to light entrances, the driveway, the sides of the house, and dark corners of your property, reducing the shadows where someone could hide. Because it’s designed together with your landscape lighting, it makes your home safer without the harsh, floodlit look of basic motion lights. Every system runs on a photocell or timer, so your property is lit every night automatically, even when you’re away.
